This might look like a regular road to some, but to me and other Wildhorse residents and San Antonians who live and work in the area, it means so much more.
To us, this road means tenacity, productivity, freedom, frustration, suffocation & hard work.
Alright, that might be a tad dramatic.
The road on the left has been under construction for about two years and now is COMPLETE!
A two lane road is what it was prior to going under construction about two years ago, frustrating Wildhorse residents who live in the neighborhood, making people late to work because of the population in that area while the construction was going on. Reeking havoc on the neighborhood children's fun & just generally causing chaos to the NW side of San Antonio.
All of that came to an end today, NOW, it has a new birth.....a new beginning, a rejuvination, a facelift a make-over, ok, you get the point....Braun Road now has FOUR lanes.. FOUR glorious & fantastic, fully FUNCTIONING lanes....choose which one you want, go ahead, their new, their fresh, their clean and they belong to you city of San Antonio residents, Merry Christmas (early!).

I am sure the other residents are as elated as you are.
Congratulations! It is exciting when the construction finally stops. My neighbors are building an addition next door.....
Kristin - We have so much reconstruction on our highways in Connecticut that it's a nightmare. Seems like the minute one project is done another one starts. I'm so happy for you and all of the Wildhorse residents with the ease of travel they'll now have.
Hi KM, Congrats on you beautiful new street.
BTW, Looks like you got tagged for the Lemonade post, too. Check it out: I'll have a blog, with a side of lemon please.
Hi Kristin - Congrats on the new road. Sounds like it was a long time in coming, but will serve San Antonians well in the future.
Have a fabulous week,
Marlene
Kristin - It is always such a relief when road projects are completed. It seems like they take forever! :)
Kristin, you and I are too much alike. I get excited about new wider roads as well. Too funny!
Kristin - It is always a pleasure when these projects are finalized and completed. The patience of the residents an the community is rewarded ! Enjoy : )
I was just there today and it is great! They even increased the lanes between the 1604 lanes (which should be underpass lanes, but that's another long construction phase yet to be completed! So now, you can actually move traffic down Braun Rd instead of just one lane turning left and one lane going straight. Hope it will help move some traffic over there!
Two years, I'll bet you guys are happy that it's over with.
Kristin, great news!! Two long years of construction -- in spite of that, homes in Wildhorse were still selling -- sold several there myself.
Kristin -
We had a similar road project in our area... I used to dread driving down Wekiva Springs Road... Now that it's done, I've forgotten about the pain and only think about how nice the drive is.
Kristin...Isnt it just amazing how some things in life can relieve so much stress? Its wonderful to know you wont have to worry about that anymore. :)
Mel - I haven't talked to them but I am betting you are correct!
Lise - small victories, eh?
Donna - thanks. It is a beautiful street. I am sure everyone thought I was crazy standing out there w/my camear though.
SP - I am beyond excited about this improvement!
Marlene - Thanks! You have a great week also.
Debi - I agree! And it took long enough!
Gary - Small things, eh? I just am happy to get somewhere sooner!
C&S - I can't say I had a ton of patience. I didn't know about the project to begin with when I moved here so I dont' know that I would have still picked a home here!
Jonathan - I will never understand the light @ 1604 & Braun. It's insane.....it's a highway for goodness sakes! Where are all the people coming from?
JL - Without a doubt!
Judi - I know, I know!! I think we are done building now,....just in time for a new rode and all Wildhorse's new residents!
Debbie - So good to see you back! How's your hand doing?
T-YES! I am going to go up and down it for at least an hour tomorrow :D.
TARA! - You got an outside blog! Now I can see your beautiful face in your comments!! Yippee!
YEAH!!!!! I had to come on here and show you! :) Im so happy!!!!! Thanks to you my BFF!!!
Kristin,
I'm sure you are excited to get it open. We have several like that in Austin and the ease and comfort now is wonderful!! Always glad when the projects are done!!
The northwest side has been growning by leaps and bounds. It's nice to see that the raods are finally catching up with the growth.
Alright I must be crazy. I know I posted a comment on this the other day. I swear! Congratulations on Braun being fixed (finally). I drove down it Saturday night and was so excited to see it without barrels blocking half the lanes. Now if they would just turn on the light at Wildhorse instead of that flashing yellow.
K,
does this mean that you will be "flying" into the office sooner! HA HA
