So, what do we do with this tree? (San Antonio, Texas tree removal)

The Holiday lights are down, the stockings are stuffed back in their box with the ornaments and now the tree is ready to find a new place to call home, other than your living room.

So, what do we do with this tree?

Give your tree new life and take part in a "Tree-dition".  Yea, that's right, if you live in San Antonio, Texas you have the benefit of just dragging it out to your front lawn and it will get recycled!  How easy is that?

Automated collection residents pick up is Wednesday, January 7th and Manual collection residents trees will be picked up Saturday, January 10th.  Just take all the items off it, if it's larger than 6", cut it in half and drag it out to the front of your lawn(where you usually leave your trash) prior to 7AM.

Your tree and other San Antonio residents trees will be taken to Bitters Brush Recycling Center (1800 Bitters Road), and shredded into pine mulch. The mulch from Christmas trees will be available to the public for free on a "first come, first serve" basis beginning, Saturday, January 17 at the Bitters Brush Recycling Center.

Kristin - I think that's a great solution not only for residents, but for the trees themselves.  We're taking ours down tomorrow for "recycle pickup" Monday.

Kristin - I always loved this, but I remember last year that were really late picking up the trees and it made my neighborhood look so bad - not as bad as brush collection week (which they were two weeks late for), but bad none the less.  Great post as everyone should be doing this.

Kristin - That's a great service to residents in your area.  Wentzville, Missouri does something similar...  :)

Great post Kristan, Often people think it is too difficult to recycle their trees. You have made it easy!

We use to buy our tree each year.  I have stopped, only because we ran into a problem where the tree died too early and I had to purchase new or return the old tree.  Either way, pain in the neck.  So, we have a fake tree that we use each year - just a little over 7 1/2 feet.  I do miss the pine scent though, but I'll live without it.  As long as the tree looks well decorated, music in the background, and the house is in season... Im good.  You are lucky that you can just pull the tree out to the front and away it goes.  Very easy and convenient.
