If you were to ask anyone who lives in San Antonio where the best neighborhood is to see Holiday lights they would say Windcrest . Located on the North East side of the city, Windcrest has been a hot spot for thousands of visitors and San Antonians for years to check out Holiday lights.
This year marks the 51st year of the Windcrest Light up which has contests for the most beautifully decorated holiday lights and numerous other categories. Light up begins mid December and lasts through New Year's eve.
The competition is fierce, the lights are aplenty and some would say overdone, just a tad.
Is there such a thing as over the top decorations? You'll have to be the judge.

Hi KM, It's wonderful that Windcrest keeps up this beautiful tradition every year! SP
Thanks for sharing the lights. That's super cool!
I just love your site, it is full of energy and good information. You are the
BEST realtor in Texas !!!
SP - I agree, it had been years since I had seen it, we went to a movie then stopped by afterwards, you should have seen all the people, it was 10:30 @ night! I thought to myself WOW, if I lived here I wouldn't be able to leave my house, the traffic was insane!
Mel - Thanks! It was really cool to see, all the number 1 and number 2 houses that won the traffic was there, it was obvious where the best lights were.
Lois M. - Hi MOM! You found my blog, you are so computer savvy! How funny!!! Thanks for stopping by! I love you! KM
Love it! My favorite was the "Nuttin but lights"..great pics!
Great photos, KM! And a visit from Mom as well :)
Lois.. you rock... your daughter rocks too!
(although, I have to say I'm glad that my mom hasn't found MY blog!) :-)
How do you take such great photos at night? I need some hints! This is a great n'hood post!
Hey, Kristin -
Happy Holidays, to you, your sister, and your families!
Just north of Chicago is a small town called Lincolnwood IL, just north of where we live. Each year, many in the exclusive Lincolnwood Towers Neighborhood - many Multi-Million Dollar houses here (at least they used to be) really go all out to decorate.
Some families hire special decorating services. One has a tree that extends "through" his entire three-story home, and onto the roof. Another uses actual, stuffed deer in a lifesized sleigh.
Pretty wild - we always drive the neighborhood each year - will do so Tuesday night. Traffic down these streets to view these houses is crazy as well.
Thanks for sharing the photography. Happy Holidays!

Lovely photos - lovely lights.......I'm a sucker for a great christmas light display! And......looking forward to taking you up on your offer! Can hardly wait! :-) Congrats on the Feature!
Very great photos. What program did you use for this photo album of picutres?
Kristin, great christmas decorations. We haven't noticed quite as many this year but there's always a few streets in the neighborhood that go all out. In our area, Stonehenge is such a place. There's one house in particular that decorates their entire estate. (grounds). It's truly breathaking and they even have a road that runs all the way through it to allow people to see all the lights.

btw: if you're interested, I can center that slideshow for you. Contact me with a text copy of the html code and i'll add it in.

There is a small cul de sac in the one neighborhood where the homes are all in competition with each other....it is kinda funny to watch how each week the number of lights seem to grow that are out!
Kristin...
Wonderful post. I love Christmas lights and you've captured this entire neighborhood beautifully! Congratulations on the feature!
Kristin, holy moly ! That is a lot of lights and a lot of XMAS spirit ! Great photos. I wonder what happens to the people at the house or two that did not participate in the lights ?? LOL, seriously though, sounds like a great San Antonio neighborhood ! Happy holidays to you and your sister !
Kristin that is a very well know home:) I have seen it numerous times both on the internet and TV. Hey why not...certainly is well noticed!
Kristin - I saw Windcrest on the news the other day and although I didn't head over there, it is quite a sight to see on TV, I can only imagine what its like in person. Congratulations on the feature...I know its always a nice feeling. I still can't believe I've had any! Thanks again for the invite.
Kristin, excellent post, great example of a good Localism piece! A lot of nice lights, can you really ever be over the top with Christmas decorations?
Love the show, does seem like a wonderful place. One can't help but love this time of year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to your family.
Nuttin but Lightz" wins hands down! Nice job
Kristin, I've never been to Windcrest to see the lights. We were going last year but got side-tracked. :( Thanks for sharing your pictures.
Hey Kristin! Looks like a most see in San Antonio! Great pictures and congrats on the feature!
Oh, I remember my parents taking us there as kids to see the lights- that was one one of our holiday traditions, and always a treat!
Thank you for sharing the lights. The last big light display I saw was in kansas city... the Plaza. Yours were exceptional, too.
