Yesterday marked the 29th year the annual Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving dinner took place at the San Antonio convention center. Roughly 25,000 plates of turkey with all the trimmings were served up to needy families and senior citizens of San Antonio. My sister and I used to volunteer at this event when we were younger and we always walked out so humbled by the kindness Mr. Jimenez created and the spirit of love and Thanks that San Antonio gives to it's people. 4,000 Volunteers come from all over to help serve food, pour drinks and clean up. After dinner pumpkin pie is served and then the dancing begins!
Raul Jimenez has not been with us for ten years but his memory lives on in the annual Thanksgiving event he created 29 years ago. Raul's children help continue the event in his honor.

Kristin, what a touching tribute you have put together for a great event. That is really feeding a lot of people at 25,000 and so many volunteers. Glad you and your sister used to work this helping others. It proves to me, which I already knew of course, that you have a kind heart. My kind of person.
Kristin - The Jimenez Thanksgiving dinner has really grown through the years. That is allot of people to prepare for and serve. I heard the other day the food bank in San Antonio is running low on food as they have had an increaseof people coming to participate in the program. Shows the economy may be slowing a little.
Don't forget the Spurs Blog Along they are playing Memphis at the AT&T Center. We are having Shepards' Pie.
Hi Kristin -- I have a (not so) secret desire to spend a Thanksgiving Day helping out at this event.
