San Antonio ~ Market statistics ~ 2008 & beyond

We attended a luncheon Tuesday of this week given by Perry homes.  A representative from the San Antonio metrostudy was present with some very encouraging facts for the months & years to come.   I wanted to share the encouraging news since this is some we usually don't hear.  We all know Bad news sells so here's a few encouraging predictions.

According to the metrostudy San Antonio currently has the lowest supply of new homes in the nation and is on the leading edge of recovery nationally.  While the foreclosure rate is up @ around 20% and we have had about 3500 foreclosures per year there is light at the end of the tunnel.  Due to San Antonio's continuous growth we are slowly recovering; job growth in Texas is one of the top states ranked and commercial construction is up.  San Antonio had about 52,000 new people call our fair city home in 2007, 31,000 of these due to migration and the numbers continue to grow.  This is encouraging as it keeps our demand for housing up.

The metrostudy predicts that the next 4 months will be slow but 2009 will ultimately prove itself to be better than 2008 and the Real Estate market will be even better by 2010.

Unfortunately we don't hear the more encouraging news in the news because bad news sells but the metrostudys predictions had everyone in the room encouraged.
