I have noticed something unusually odd the last couple of days. Something that shouldn't surprise me, but does. It is quite frankly freaking me out a tad because it is so unusual to me.
I have encountered VERY nice & VERY friendly individuals in retail stores, restaurants & service shops.
I know service shouldn't be a surprise, good service should be a given. BUT, i'm not used to it.
Last week I had a flat tire, I went to the local tire store. I couldn't find my paperwork so the guy had to look me up & he didn't get impatient or seem upset. When I returned the next day to a store full of customers he walked up to me, greeted me by name & handed me my keys.
Saturday, I went to the craft store Michael's to get some tickets framed. The framer guy was so incredibly helpful, patient & creative. I was so impressed I wrote a thank you note to the store manager today telling him how helpful the employee was.
Yesterday we ran into Chipotle to get a bite to eat, the girl behind the counter was very friendly, apologizing for my wait, pointing things out, etc. I was so stunned I figured I should write about it before it comes to a screeching halt.
What is going on here? Where are the grumbling employees with the scowling faces who look like they would rather be sticking needles in their eyes rather than giving a smile to the person in front of them? Who has stolen these individuals & replaced them with smiley, helpful & thankful employees?
I am curious if shop owners & managers are paying more attention to the service & attitudes of their employees? Are they feeling lucky to have jobs or do they now just love them?
