A common question I receive frequently is "How long are home's staying on the market?".  The answer truly depends on the price point of the home, the time of year as well as other variables.

Day's on Market (DOM) can be affected by many things, in San Antonio, Texas (Bexar County) some home's continue to have a very short time on the market if they look great and are priced right.   

Let's look at it one month at a time. For visual folks, I created a chart that help's put it into perspective for us.

What you are looking at above is the average days on market (red) and the number of listings (blue). 

The highest number of listings for the month of October, 2011 falls under the $100,000 to $149,900 category with 199 listings added.  The least amount of listings falls under the $600,000 to $699,999 category with 1 listing added.   

So, our average day's on market, lowest to highest for October, 2011? The price point of $350,000 to $399,000 had an average DOM of only 93 while the price point of $800,000 to $899,000 came in at the highest at a whopping 383 days!
